Vanilla created‘’Norwich Fashion Week in 2010 to celebrate and promote the vibrant fashion scene in the city, bringing together its nationally recognised independent retail offering with the city’s thriving student fashion design community and professional practitioners in fashion and beauty.’’

Anita Vadhir, Director Vanilla

‘’ I am proud to say that we created Norwich Fashion Week. It’s hard to believe that an idea born from a casual staff room conversation in 2010 has become the widely recognised calendar event that it is today. Our dream was to celebrate the diversity of the independent fashion in Norwich. We worked closely with restauranter Jane Raffles and had amazing support from Archant and City College. Not only is it a positive for the existing fashion retail community in Norwich, it is also a chance for budding young designers to showcase their hard work as seen at the Designers Show.’’

”The NFW formula has involved set-piece fashion shows, modelling competitions with modelling contracts for winners, visual merchandising (window dressing with paid placements for winners) competitions, in-store fashion events, in-store designer events, a vintage fashion strand, hairdressing and make-up events, and in-the-street activity such as fashion processions.”
